Logan: 10 Best Moments
4. Charles' Devastating Confession
It's hinted at several times throughout the film that Charles feels immense guilt for something that happened in the past, and if you're paying attention during the hotel escape, you can hear the radio mention an event that happened in West Chester the year prior, which resulted in the deaths of numerous X-Men (but Logan turns the radio off at this point so no more information is available).
Later, Charles implies to be well aware that he suffered a seizure that killed a large number of the X-Men, and feels an overwhelming sense of guilt over this. It's a brutal reveal, especially considering all the steps Charles has made to try and help mutants throughout his life, only to become a ticking timebomb in the final stretch.
Patrick Stewart absolutely killed the part and made the audience feel every drop of regret. Heartbreaking stuff.
