What a joy it is to see Steven Soderbergh return from his short-lived "retirement" from filmmaking, and with Logan Lucky he continues to prove that he's one of Hollywood's most consistently reliable mid-budget directors.

Every frame has Soderbergh's auteur stamp all over it, enhanced by the fact that he not only served as director, but also cinematographer and editor, not to mention most likely wrote the script. All of these elements work in terrific concert and show an artist in full control of their project, as was always his intention with his radical distribution model.

It's simply great to see Soderbergh still putting out great movies like this, and with his next film also already wrapped, it seems like his love for the rigours of filmmaking may well have returned.
