Logan Review: 9 Ups & 2 Downs
6. Patrick Stewart Delivers His Best Xavier Yet
Hugh Jackman isn't the only legacy X-Men actor giving his absolute best: Patrick Stewart gives fans the most complex and intriguing Charles Xavier yet.
This version of the character is an unmistakably sad sight for any longtime fan, being riddled with Alzheimer's and struggling to maintain his grip on reality.
During his periods of lucidity, however, Xavier is also a fantastic comic relief character here, with the script and Stewart both playing off the easy chemistry between himself and Jackman, generating much-needed humour that often follows moments of dire brutality.
Stewart has confirmed that, like Jackman, he is also retiring from the role following this film, and also like Jackman, he's gone out on a stupendous high-point.
