Oscars 2016: 8 Awards Contenders To Look Out For At The London Film Festival
4. Trumbo
What Could It Win? Best Film, Best Actor (Bryan Cranston) Biggest Hope: Best Actor Let's not kid ourselves here, Trumbo is all about Bryan Cranston. It's got what looks like a stellar supporting cast and a cracking story to tell, but the big draw is to see the star of one of the greatest TV shows ever made sink his teeth into a proper big screen role. Said role is that of Dalton Trumbo, the screenwriter behind such classics as The Brave One and Spartacus who was blacklisted for his political beliefs. It's a proper character role, and Cranston appears to have really got into the part, making him an obvious favourite for a nomination. What Trumbo has going for it outside of Cranston (and what would make a Best Picture nomination more than just further validation of Heisenberg's hopes of adding an Oscar to his raft of Emmys) is its Hollywood inspired content. Sure, forcing an twice Oscar-winner to write under a pseudonym isn't exactly a glowing endorsement of Tinseltown, but there's no escaping the Academy loves a film that looks at the industry itself. Of course, it still depends on Austin Powers director Jay Roach being able to do it justice.
