Lord Of The Rings: Every Death Ranked From Worst To Best

6. King Théoden

Film: The Return of the King How he died: In battle King Théoden was battling against the Witch King of Angmar, but he died from the injuries he sustained when he was crushed by his horse, Snowmane. Théoden developed as both a man and as a King since his first encounter with Aragorn and even though he made some poor decisions over his reign, he was a good man with a good heart who knew how to rile men up before they were sent to their deaths. But he didn't deserve to be crushed to death. At least it was a noble way for him to die and he had a very cheerful song written about him afterwards:
"Out of doubt, out of dark, to the day's rising he rode singing in the sun, sword unsheathing. Hope he rekindled, and in hope he ended; over death, over dread, over doom lifted out of loss, out of life, unto long glory."
