5. Gollum

Film: The Return of the King How he died: Fell into the fire of Mount Doom It was Gollum's greed and desire to own the ring that led to his demise, and what better way to go than to be untied with it for all eternity in the fire of Mount Doom? Burning in Mount Doom was the best way to Gollum to die because he had to be buried with the ring and he was essentially blinded by the power of the ring. No one who was that influenced by the ring would have been able to live without it; so ultimately in the end, everyone who wanted to use the ring perished. Except Gollum's death was a little more dramatic than others.
