David Cronenberg's move into a rather more mainstream type of cinema continues with the drama/thriller
Eastern Promises that re-teams him with his
A History of Violence star
Viggo Mortensen who sports a very convincing Russian accent. Aussie actress
Naomi Watts (with a superb British accent of her own) and
Vincent Cassel also star.
CLICK HERE TO SEE THE TRAILER Trailer looks superb and although Cronenberg does make films that are less about symbolism and obscurity than his previous work, I'm so glad he has kept the same directing style. His camera angles are still as interesting as ever, and he's a superb "actor's" director, meaning that with every Cronenberg film I've seen it's always the actors performance which I remember most. Eastern Promises has a limited run in the States in September, but no word yet on a U.K. release. source -
