Lots of X-Men talk (and a bit of Constantine talk too!)

xmen.jpgX-Men 3 executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner sat down for an interview with IESB this weekend and once again talked about the future of the X-Men franchise... "We're going to do Wolverine, I hope in the fall and we're out to a director, now, we have a good script. And I think we're going to do Young Magneto, we have a really great script, we have a director that is interested and he'll do a rewrite on the script". A director that is interested, mmm. Could this be Bryan Singer who said he wanted to take a look at the Wolverine script?.... "I would love it. We would love nothing more than to have Bryan do Wolverine, but Bryan is developing the sequel to Superman so I don't know, it depends on scheduling, but nothing would please all of us more". I too would love to see Singer return, but maybe that's not the director she was talking about.... "Here's the problem, our movie is out to a director that is filming. Understandably, he cannot take the time to read the script because he's filming, but he wants to, he has expressed a desire to make the movie and we very much want him to, so you tend to want to wait for that, you know". Singer's taking some time off so it can't be him. You know Brett Ratner is filming Rush Hour 3 right now, I wouldn't be surprised if they used him again (you know X3 was good for a director rushed into the job, if given more time to prepare he MIGHT be able to make a killer movie) She continued, this time on the subject of the possible inclusion of Gambit... "Probably, you know, the reason we didn't use Gambit was because in a sense his persona is a bit like Wolverine in that he's got attitude and his power is not quite as exciting as the others. That's why we went to Nightcrawler on 2 because he looked different than everybody else and he had a great power. So yes, I think we would weave Gambit within our story, it wouldn't be €œThe Gambit Movie.€"I mean, I love him and remember in €œLost€ the guy, what's his name, there was a guy in there that was the perfect Gambit, the guy with the straight hair, good-looking, the bad boy, Sawyer, Sawyer ". I've been saying it for a while... Josh Holloway is Gambit. They couldn't get anyone better if they searched the whole globe. And on a rather unrelated note, are we in line for a Constantine sequel.... "Yes, you might, you might.... We have been working with a team of writers to come up with a story and yeah, you will". There is lots more on both X-Men and Constantine up on IESB's site, which is well worth the read. Trust me, there are plently more X-Men stories to be told on screen. The Last Stand was really only the beginning..... we are going to see lots of character spin offs and team ups in the future mark my words! source - iesb
