Mad Max: Fury Road - 10 Reasons Critics Are Calling It A Masterpiece

2. It's The Best Mad Max Movie Ever

"A rare case of a filmmaker returning to their groundbreaking franchise and creating something just as game-changing." - Edward Douglas, ComingSoon.net "It makes the other Mad Max films seem, in retrospect, like demo reels for the kinetic rush of this chase epic." - Josh Slater-Williams, The Skinny "Mad Max: Fury Road is Miller's masterpiece." - Jason Gorber, TwitchFilm
Mad Max: Fury Road had a lot to live up to. Not to say that the original movies are regarded with the same adoration as those in franchises like Indiana Jones and Star Wars, but the films themselves are fondly remembered; George Miller essentially confirmed himself as a crazed genius with the first Mad Max, whilst the second is considered his masterpiece. Not for long, though: Fury Road looks like it might be on route to becoming Miller's magnus opus, with many critics considering it his definitive work and the most accomplished motion picture of his career. Not a bad achievement, considering that Miller hasn't helmed an action movie for well over two decades and is - brace yourself - 70 years old. Insane!
