Mad Max: Fury Road - 10 Reasons It’ll Be The Best Film Of 2015

9. Character and Vehicle Design

The pre-release material for Mad Max: Fury Road has already shown a lot of cars, both in the trailer, press photos, and set photos/leaks posted online, which is inevitably what happens when the cars are being built while the movie sits in limbo. Introduced as well were a lot of new characters, many that have been in development for years. Much as with the script, the great news is that the cars and characters look awesome thanks to the extra development time: car-wise, there's something that looks like a porcupine, a bomb-on-wheels looking battle car, a car loaded up with speakers no doubt meant to scream at or deafen the masses, and of course, the last of the V8 Interceptors. The characters have a distinctive feel to them; even Max has been updated, covered in brandings against his will. Other movies don't have the ability to develop characters over the course of years or even decades. The only real competition here would be the Avengers, since it draws from the comics, or Star Wars - but the Avengers also lacks the element of surprise, making this a two-horse race. And vehicle designs? For Star Wars, you know what the Falcon looks like, and X-Wings, so it's really just characters and maybe a new ship or two.
