Mad Max: Fury Road - 20 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes & References

As already mentioned, in Beyond Thunderdome, Max starts with a luxurious thatch of thick, sun-dried hair before he gets a haircut at Barter Town.

The same change to hair-style happens in Fury Road, when he's given a haircut by his captors (for literally no real reason).

In both cases, a hair thief steals a handful of his freshly cut locks, seemingly as a keepsake because of his fame or at least what he represents. If you're biblically inclined, there's probably some message about Samson in there, though robbing Max of his hair is no way to blunt him as a weapon.
