Mad Max: Fury Road - 20 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes & References

When Immortan Joe finally meets his maker at the end of the film, the manner of his death feels like a cheeky reference back to an earlier moment in the franchise. 

During the diner scene in the first Mad Max, the camera interrupts Goose telling a gruesome sounding story to a fellow patron:

"It was like slow motion. He leaves his seat and goes through the windshield, headfirst straight into the tree, right? And then bounces back through the windshield. And by the time we got to him, he was just sitting there, trying to scream with his face ripped off."

In Fury Road, Furiosa hooks Immortan Joe's mask up to his car's wheels and rips it off, as well as a fair part of his face, which kills him rather horribly. Clearly it's different circumstances, but there are very similar beats.
