Mad Max: Fury Road - 20 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes & References

Cementing any theories that Fury Road follows Beyond Thunderdome in the timeline, there's a tragic (and brief) cameo appearance of sorts from a character who appeared in the first two sequels.

When Max is tied to the front of one of Immortan Joe's henchmen vehicles, there's a hint that he wasn't the first to meet that fate. Just above his head there's a mounted skull wearing the same pilot's skull cap and goggles as worn by the Gyro Captain (Bruce Spence).

Had Miller chosen to bring in some cameos of previous characters, the Gyro Captain would probably have been high on fans' wishlists. If that is his skull, that looks pretty unlikely now.
