One of the first times we see the extent of Magnetos powers is during Rogues (Anna Paquin) kidnapping. When Rogue and Wolverine are on a train Magneto shows up, manhandles Wolverine (as mentioned before) and walks off with Rogue in tow. Along with henchmen Sabertooth and Toad, Magneto leaves the train station only to find a horde of cops armed to the teeth waiting for them. Magneto promptly tosses a few of their vehicles around before taking their guns out of their hands and aiming them back at themselves. Xavier shows up just in time, controlling the mind of Sabretooth as he tries to convince Magneto not to harm anyone. Magneto, of course, doesnt listen and fires off a shot in a cops forehead stopping it just short. Xaviers compassion get the best of him and he lets Magneto go. Wait, why didn't Professor X have Sabertooth remove Magneto's helmet so he could make him stop? Maybe Magneto's control over his metal helmet is stronger than Sabertooth's physical strength to lift it off.
