Man Of Steel: 10 Easter Eggs That Were Secretly Foreshadowing

2. World Engine - Brainiac Could Be An Upcoming Villain

The World Engine €“ Zod€™s terraforming device that he wanted to destroy mankind with €“ was attached to his spaceship the Black Zero. At the end of Man Of Steel, the whole thing ended up dumped in the Indian Ocean by Superman. As the technological terror was shutting down, three bright circles in a triangular formation were briefly alight. Visually, this is very reminiscent of the three prominent diodes on the super-villain Brainiac€™s head. Brainiac€™s origin story has shifted and changed over years of comic book history, but he€™s essentially an extra terrestrial android who shrinks/steals cities (and often leaves the rest of each planet he targets to die). Perhaps, by teasing him visually in Man Of Steel, Zack Snyder was hinting that he€™d use Brainiac as the villain in a future Superman movie. There's certainly ways he could rewrite Brainiac€™s origin to follow directly on from Man Of Steel. The advanced technology of the World Engine and the Black Zero ship could malfunction at the bottom of the sea, after all, resulting in a new version of Brainiac emerging from the wreckage as an evil AI. Only time will tell exactly what this Brainiac reference was foreshadowing, but something like that seems plausible.
