7. CGI Cape
One of Supermans most iconic elements, his bright red cape is a strong enough image for its simple appearance to make you immediately think of the son of Krypton. The teaser trailer used this to great effect, getting us stoked a year in advance (while also ruining the emotional ending to the movie). And in the film itself the cape (and the rest of the suit) look brilliant. Rippling iconically, elegantly attached and even picking up dust when Supermans in the desert, it's a great prop. Well youve been duped. Sort of. Although for some of the films quieter moments Cavill was wearing the whole kit, when it came to the (oh so many) action scenes the cape was entirely CGI. Clearly present to allow the most freedom for the actor during the intricate fighting, its a big success. So successful (much more so than in Superman Returns) in fact, that you can be forgiven for not noticing at all; the only time it was an issue was when there was clearly a computer based model of Cavill being used Green Lantern was rightfully lambasted for its totally CGI costume, but here in Man Of Steel it seems Snyders managed to get the correct balance between real and CGI costumes. Shame the balance was so out for the rest of the film.
