2. Female Jimmy Olsen?
Rumours have been running rampant for months that Man of Steel will, in another bold attempt to shake up the Superman mythos, see the casting of a
female Jimmy Olsen - that is, Jenny Olsen. Interest was first sparked when the previous trailer showed Perry White (played, in its own daring fashion, by Lawrence Fishburne) running away from an attack in Metropolis with a young woman who presumably works with him at the Daily Planet. People immediately thought, "Who is she?", and then the net nerds began to piece together the idea that she might be the new Jimmy Olsen. Compounding the mystery is the fact that David S. Goyer simply stated, "I can't comment on that", when asked about it; if Jimmy Olsen were elsewhere in the film, would we not have heard an announcement by now? His refusal to deny the possibility certainly lends it great credence, as well as the fact that the new trailer does focus on her in a brief shot, which suggests she's more than just a peripheral character appearing with Perry in one scene.
