Man Of Steel Trailer: 10 Things We Learned

3. Russell Crowe Makes No Attempt To Hide His Accent

Man of Steel When I heard that an actor of Russell Crowe's caliber had signed on for the iconic role of Superman's daddy, Jor-El, I was elated; to find an actor who measures up to the stature of Marlon Brando is not easy, but Crowe absolutely has the gravitas to do it. In the previous trailer, we got only the briefest glimpse of Jor-El, and didn't at all hear him speak, yet this time, he gets to open his mouth a lot, and the result are...strange. Crowe appears to be making no attempt to mask his Australian accent, though I suppose it's easy enough to excuse given that him having an American accent would be equally strange (considering he's never stepped foot in the US). This one's not so much a complaint as an observation.
