Mark Hamill: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
4. Professor Arnold - Kingsman: The Secret Service
Hamill made a bizarre cameo as himself in the comic that inspired Kingsman: The Secret Service, so it made sense to bring him for the film. His character was changed to that of a kidnapped professor, and for most of his introduction all he has to do is sit and react to a whole lot of crazy things happening around him. He witnesses a spy singlehandedly take out a room of gunmen, and then he watches said agent getting sliced in half by an assassin with blades for legs. The reason this scene works is because of Hamill's silent horror at all the bloodshed happening around him, and his poor character has no idea what the hell is going on. He also gets a great scene with Colin Firth, and watching the contrast between Firths ice cool assassin and Hamills scruffy, nervous professor is one the films highlights; especially when his head blows up unexpectedly. Not a major role, but it was fun to see Hamill in a major movie again and quietly stealing scenes from everyone else.
