Marvel's Doctor Strange: 8 Reasons You Should Be Excited
7. We'll See A New Infinity Stone In Action
For those of us that look forward to each of these superhero tentpoles, the Infinity Stones are like the movie version of an extravagant treasure hunt - small pieces of a larger puzzle that will pay off big time in a couple of years when Marvel's endgame is revealed.
There's a certain level of satisfaction to seeing these things on-screen - you'll feel like you're one step closer to completing that puzzle and assembling the gems yourself - and all signs point to Doctor Strange featuring the MCU's fifth; the Time Stone.
There are a couple of pieces of evidence that support this notion. Various promotional images for the film have shown Strange sporting the Eye of Agamotto, a powerful relic featured in the Marvel Comics.
MCU head-honcho Kevin Feige has said that, in the movie, this relic will "screw around with time", so it isn't a huge leap to assume that the Eye is, in fact, the Time Stone. Secondly, the Doctor Strange comics are weird and trippy as hell, exploring alternate dimensions and magic and sorcery, so it seems apt to place the time-twisting gem in this particular movie rather than, say, Captain Marvel or Black Panther.
It's been over two years since we last saw an Infinity Stone - in Guardians of the Galaxy - and it would be genuinely exciting to see another. Doctor Strange is shaping up to be a film that satisfies both hardcore MCU fans as well as the more general moviegoing public, and there's no higher praise you can pour on a film of this kind.
