Marvel Cinematic Universe: 10 Brainless Superhero Mistakes (That Got People Killed)

9. Cap Punches Out the Wrong Hitler (Captain America: The First Avenger)

Captain America Punches Hitler Perhaps part of the "following orders" mentality again, but it strikes me as extremely brainless that while Cap and his merry squad are so intent on stopping the Red Skull€”who it appears has largely broken off from the Third Reich€”they lose sight of the other big picture: Adolf Hitler himself. The film makes a big deal and running joke that Cap is used as a propagandist to further the war effort by making him appear in silly skits where he punches out "Adolf Hitler"...but yet, the question has to be asked as to why they just didn't then send Cap after the real Hitler? Yes, I know the Red Skull was to a point the bigger threat as he had the Tesseract at his disposal, but even in this alternative history it's clear that Hitler was still a threat to the rest of the world. Again, think of the thousands if not millions of lives that could have been saved if Cap had just taken a detour on his quest to stop the Red Skull to actually punch out the real Hitler.
