Marvel Cinematic Universe: 10 Brainless Superhero Mistakes (That Got People Killed)

2. Bruce Banner Falls For The Nigerian Lottery Scam (The Incredible Hulk)

iron-man-2-edward-norton-bruce-banner Okay, not exactly, but to a point. The Nigerian Lottery Scam is when someone gets an e-mail from someone promising them a cut of the Nigerian Lottery; all they have to do is hand over their bank account to wire say, $1,000 overseas and then they'll be rewarded with thousands or millions in return. Instead, they get an empty bank account for foolishly handing out their account number to a complete stranger. Bruce Banner ships his blood€”his radioactive, soda contaminating, Stan Lee killing blood€”to a complete stranger he only knows as "Mr. Blue" hoping to win the lottery of being cured of the Hulk. Mr. Blue€”aka, Dr. Samuel Sterns, who in the comics is fated to become The Leader€”then synthesizes massive quantities of Banner's blood, which is then not only responsible for creating the Abomination and the subsequent rampage through Harlem that costs lives, but is hinted that it also turns Sterns into The Leader. Banner's blood in and of itself is extremely dangerous€”he freaks out when he cuts his finger at the factory and it spills€”yet he has no qualms about shipping it off to a complete stranger who could just as well be an agent of HYDRA, AIM, or even SHIELD for all he really knows. A brainless act of desperation€”and a deadly one.
