Marvel Cinematic Universe: 10 Moments Of Bad Decision-Making

7. Thor Invading Jotunheim (Thor)

thor-jotunheim During the ceremony in which Thor is to ascend to the throne of Asgard, proceedings are interrupted when the Frost Giants of Jotunheim attempt to retrieve the coveted and powerful Casket of Ancient Winters from his Father Odin's trophy room. Against Odin's order, Thor travels to Jotunheim to confront Laufey - the king of the Frost Giants - accompanied by his brother Loki, childhood friend Sif and the Warriors Three; Volstagg, Fandral and Hogun. A battle ensues in which the Asgardians initially come out on top, but they are soon outnumbered and cornered, until Odin intervenes to save them, which destroys the fragile truce between the two races that Odin had worked so hard to form. For Thor's arrogance, Odin strips his son of his hammer Mjolnir (and thus, his godly power) and exiles him to Earth (Midgard) as a mortal. His hammer is also sent to a different location on Earth, but is protected by an enchantment that allows only the worthy to wield it - which Thor obviously isn't.
