Appearing In: Black Panther

Killmonger has been a Black Panther staple since being introduced to comic readers nearly 45 years ago, and he'll be making his big screen debut in a matter of weeks, with Michael B. Jordan filling his shoes. In comic lore, he and his family were exiled from Wakanda, an event around which the character's hatred for king T'Challa was born, and in time he was allowed back into the country, though he used the opportunity to eventually try and dethrone T'Challa.

The film version of the character will be a black-ops soldier hellbent on overthrowing the new king and rebuilding Wakanda under his own vision. T'Challa's role in his exile will probably be swapped out for the late T'Chaka - who was killed in Civil War - but much of Killmonger's fundamental character seems to still be in place in terms of his ideological differences with T'Challa over what Wakanda has become and what it should be.

The trailers have shown him freeing Ulysses Klaue and turning him into an ally and even battling T'Challa in his own Black Panther suit, and Jordan, both on screen and off, seems passionate about delivering a villain who isn't all flash over substance. Like the film itself, it feels like we're in for something special with Killmonger, who has managed to be an exciting new arrival in the MCU deserving of attention even with Thanos and Infinity War looming on the horizon.
