Marvel Cinematic Universe: 10 Small Moments That Would Make A Huge Impact

8. An "Earth-1" Easter Egg

Remember that very subtle Easter egg in Thor: The Dark World when Erik Selvig was attempting to explain the Convergence to a bunch of his fellow care home patients? Well, if you don't, he did so using a chalkboard for illustration purposes. On that chalkboard were a number of references to the Marvel comic books, including the term "616 Universe", which was underlined. The 616 Universe is the name given to the standard continuity in which the classic comic book versions of Iron Man, Thor and Hulk et al reside, indicating that it is an alternate reality in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, imagine if you will, that in the future, a similar illustration appears in the background of a scene. On that illustration is the term "Earth-1". Seven characters that would drive audiences wild. Earth-1 is the name of the standard continuity in DC Comics. Including it would do no harm, but it could indicate that the universe exists in the same multiverse as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which would mean that, potentially, somewhere down the line (it could take twenty or thirty years, but who would care?), there could be a crossover between Marvel and DC on a live action basis. Superman versus Thor on the big screen? Yes please.
