Marvel Cinematic Universe: 11 Films To Expect In Phase 4

8. Ant-Man 3

Though the first two Ant-Man films didn't make as big of a box office splash as, say, Captain America's, their existence in the MCU has been welcome nonetheless, their small-scale adventures fun enough and their characters charming enough to keep fans invested in the fact that Marvel managed to pull off making Ant-Man into a franchise worth taking seriously a miracle.

And thanks to Ant-Man and the Wasp's presence in Endgame, their solo series is likely to get a huge boost by the time a third film rolls along, even if everyone involved has been playing coy whether it'll actually happen. There's too much left to explore, whether it's on a personal level with Scott and Hope's relationship and how Scott's five-year absence from Cassie's life has changed their dynamic or the more world-building stuff, such as Janet's experiences in the Quantum Realm.

It's a certainty that the whole cast would be back, including Michael Douglas, who has made it clear he'd love to suit up for a prequel exploring Hank's younger days, while director Peyton Reed would be the first director (if he beats James Gunn to the punch) to direct an entire MCU trilogy. Should the third film follow in its predecessors' footsteps in terms of a release window, it's likely that we'll be seeing Ant-Man 3 take a slot like the July 2021 spot, retaining the trilogy's status as fun, end-of-summer palate cleansers.
