Marvel Cinematic Universe: 11 Steps To Redeeming Loki
7. Reveal Past Hardships
To date, all of Loki's evilness has been put down to jealousy and anger. He was second in line to Asgard's throne behind Thor and he later found out that he was actually an adopted Frost Giant - the son of Laufey - rather than the genetic son of Odin. Both of those things must have been hard to take, but to act like he has acted so far because of it is, frankly, stupid. If there was more to Loki's jealousy and anger than that, audiences would be more sympathetic and understanding about his actions. Perhaps he could be revealed to have been mistreated or bullied as a child, giving a reason to somewhat forgive him for becoming the man he grew up to be. It would show that he isn't just inherently bad and make us believe that he is in fact redeemable - which would obviously make his ultimate redemption seem more authentic.
