7 Marvel Cinematic Universe "What Ifs" That Should Have Happened

5. The Incredible Hulk Being Relevant

With the recasting to Mark Ruffalo, Marvel completely left this Hulk reboot to lie outside of the MCU. The direction they decided to take with the story at first seems logical. They skipped over the origin and just quickly recapped it, but as the rest of the story proves, it€™s not that interesting. What if there was never an Ang-Lee directed Hulk? If the MCU movie combined both stories, the time necessary to explain Banner's origin with the gamma rays would have sped the rest of Louis Letterier's movie up. No more wandering around a bottle factory, awkwardly glancing at the cute coworker or pining for Betty behind trees. Banner is on a mission to get rid of the Hulk as soon as he becomes it. What if they switched the ideas that Bruce is always good and Hulk is always bad? Bruce would start the story as a good man, trying to do the experiment but with General Ross breathing down his neck. This pressure instigates the accident that turns him into the Hulk. Samuel Stern can also be part of his team and be affected by the gamma, turning him into the Leader. After destroying a ton of stuff Bruce is on a mission to get rid of the Hulk. He begins communicating with Stern to search for a cure, not knowing Stern has become the Leader. The story would then revolve around Bruce questioning the morality of things the Leader is telling him to do in order to get rid of the Hulk. Bruce would go through some shady trials and tribulations (breaking into places, making sure he doesn't get caught ect.) all while Ross is turning Blonsky into the Abomination in order to stop him. Bruce would then realize he's become the threat, not the Hulk and he needs to use the Hulk as a force for good to stop the Abomination. The Leader can then be detained by S.H.E.I.L.D. and Bruce goes on the run.
