Marvel Cinematic Universe: Definitive Guide To Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And Foreshadowing

Thor

Thor is a movie of two halves. On the on hand you have the high fantasy, bordering on Cosmic, of Asgard, humorously described by Tony Stark as "Shakespeare in the park" in The Avengers, and the more conventional Earth-set middle, which brings with it that petulant MCU help/irritant S.H.I.E.L.D. This allows for a wide range of Easter eggs, ranging from those that directly tie-in to the impending Avengers (a key team member makes their first, understated appearance) to the more fantastic; either throwaway nods to characters not introduced until years later or acknowledgement of the comics' Nordic influences. It was only with the production of this film that a proper game-plan for the MCU was created, as opposed to a vague idea and throwaway in-jokes, meaning a lot of what appears here is with more of a sense of permanence that what came before.
