Marvel Cinematic Universe: Definitive Guide To Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And Foreshadowing

Thor: The Dark World

7. Hel Gets A Mention

It'd be easy to mistake Loki's quip to a doomed Kurse as "See you in hell, monster", but it's actually "See you in Hel", a reference to the Norse Realm of the Dead. Not just a nice bit of wider mythology, however, this serves a little wink to the future of Asgard, which will assumedly see a fair share of its inhabitants head to Hel during Thor: Ragnarok.

6. The Other Realms

The Convergence offers up the opportunity to show what the other realms actually look like after teases in the first film. Of importance here you can see Muspelheim (the lava coated one), Vanaheim (the realm visited in the film's opening, also the one two planes fly into) and Niflheim (the location of Hel).

5. Hidden Mickey

Thor: The Dark World was the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie produced entirely under the watch of Disney (the had control of The Avengers and Iron Man 3, but Paramount still a small finger in the pie). So of course the Mouse House would take advantage of this and sneak in one of their ubiquitous Hidden Mickeys (images of Mickey Mouse's iconic visage). It comes during the Convergence, as three of the realms slowly come together.
