Marvel Cinematic Universe: Definitive Guide To Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And Foreshadowing

Thor: The Dark World

4. Adam Warlock's Cocoon

The post-credits scene introduces the audience to The Collector's museum. One of the "exhibits" is a slug-looking thing, which is actually the cocoon of Adam Warlock. Warlock is an integral part of the Cosmic side of the Marvel Universe and proves integral in defeating Thanos during the Infinity Gauntlet arc, meaning it's only a matter of time before he makes his proper screen debut.

3. Infinity Stones Confirmed

The mid-credit scene itself depicts Volstagg and Lady Sif taking the Aether to The Collector, in the process confirming a lot of what's been suggested about the various objects of power in the MCU - the Tesseract, as well as the Aether, are Infinity Stones (Gems in the comics), separated due to their extreme power.

2. The Collector

The primary purpose, of course, of Thor: The Dark World's mid-credits scene is to introduce Taneleer Tivan, otherwise known as The Collector, ahead of a supporting role in Guardians Of The Galaxy. He's revealed to be hunting down the six Infinity Stones, lending a rather dark side to his Guardians appearance, while also suggest a strong comic divergence; there Tivan was only collecting the Gems on Thanos orders, whereas here he appears to be out for himself.

1. Thor Returns Earth

The additional post-credits scene sees Thor deliver on his promise to Odin/Loki and return to Earth to meet Jane. This puts him in a prime position to appear in Avengers: Age Of Ultron without any question over why he's jumping realms.
