The Incredible Hulk

With the star changed for The Avengers, various plot points still left unanswered and little recognition of the film's events in later instalments, The Incredible Hulk now looks like the black sheep of the MCU. Released just a few months after Iron Man, it arrived before any coherent plan for The Avengers was formulated, although all this doesn't mean it doesn't feel part of the bigger world. There's plenty of references to other characters that work to contextualise the film, both in terms of the events in Iron Man and ahead to movies that arrived in the following years. There's also an awful lot of throwbacks to previous incarnations of Hulk, most prominently the popular TV series from the late seventies and early eighties, making this a fun experience for long-standing fans of the character.
