Marvel Cinematic Universe: Every 2017 Project Ranked Worst To Best

After finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe - where he belongs! - in last year's Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man finally got his first solo outing this year. If you discount 2007's disappointing Spider-Man 3 and the two lackluster Amazing Spider-Man movies, fans haven't had a solid Spider-Man movie since 2004, and Spider-Man: Homecoming did not disappoint in delivering the world arguably the best movie the webslinger has received yet.

Aside from the mere fact that Tom Holland knocked it out of the park as both Peter Parker and his alter-ego, Homecoming did so much right in bringing him into the fold. Despite Tony Stark being in the movie, for instance, he never overshadowed it, and his father/son-like, mentor/mentee relationship brought a lot to Peter's arc. Peter actually felt like a high schooler, living a life full of obligations like decathlon trips, with a best friend - his own personal guy in the chair - who worries just enough about his superhero antics while being completely in awe and support of it all.

It's a genuinely funny movie that doesn't forget that Peter is just a kid that may be out of his depth in a world of dangerous consequences, and the reveal that Adrian "The Vulture" Toomes - one of the MCU's best cinematic villains thanks to Michael Keaton's performance - is the father of Peter's crush was a singularly fantastic moment in a movie already filled with standout moments. Homecoming was the movie that both Spider-Man and his fans needed, and it's comforting to know the character's future is bright once again.
