Marvel Cinematic Universe: Every One-Shot & Webseries Ranked Worst To Best

1. Agent Carter

And so we reach the final One-Shot on this list, the second-to-last one released, Agent Carter, which arrived in September of 2013. Picking up after Captain America: The First Avenger and the end of World War II, Agent Carter gave Peggy the opportunity to step up from love interest to true lead, highlighting her capabilities in a male-dominated world and establishing her life working for the SSR.

The short's popularity helped cement Peggy's status as a fan favorite, and the character has since gone on to make appearances in a number of other projects like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Ant-Man. On top of that, its success paved the way for Agent Carter, Peggy's own show that ran for two seasons in 2015 and 2016, which was (and still is) a big achievement for the One-Shot program.

More importantly, though, it capitalized on actress Hayley Atwell, whose increased presence in the MCU following the One-Shot was an absolute win for fans, as Atwell's clear love for the character is infectious. And it's that idea, the notion of allowing a supporting character to take the stage and own it, that makes things like the short films and the webseries so intriguing and effective and why fans are still holding out hope they return, with Agent Carter standing as the best example of what the medium is capable of bringing to the table.
