Marvel Cinematic Universe: Every Project To Be Excited For In 2019 (And Why)

7. Jessica Jones: Season 3

Captain Marvel Trailer
Netflix

Release Date: TBD

Though the first season of Jessica Jones is often held up as one of the television side of the MCU's best products and Jessica's chemistry with Matt Murdock was a highlight of 2017's The Defenders, Jessica's second outing last March stumbled, failing to live up to its predecessor despite its solid performances simply because its narrative was a bit of a slog and - at worst, some would say - boring.

Of course, the Netflix corner of the MCU has since imploded since its release, with Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil all having been cancelled, meaning that after The Punisher's second season releases in a few weeks - likely to also be cancelled - Jessica's third season may very well be not just our final outing with her and her supporting cast but our final experience with all the Netflix characters period. For fans, it's depressing, as knowing the axe is ready to swing on the show makes it hard to get excited for it, particularly if the show leaves off with an open ending for a fourth season that'll never come because no one involved during production expected to be cancelled.

At the very least, though we know absolutely nothing about the upcoming season, from plot details to new characters, hopefully lessons were learned from the criticism of the show's second season that'll help send these characters off in the style they deserve, as well as wrap up the conflict between Jessica and Trish, so that a satisfying send-off can help wash away the bitter taste that the Netflix chapter of the MCU has come to an abrupt and disheartening conclusion.
