Marvel Civil War: 10 Incredibly Important Scenes We’ll Never See On Film

9. Iron Man As The Villain

In the comic storyline, the marketing tagline was "Whose Side Are You On?", but within an issue or two most readers had made up their minds to side with Captain America and the anti-registration group. It wasn't just that the legislation itself put the heroes and their families in danger; it was the fact that Tony Stark was coming off like a colossal a-hole. Iron Man has always had his demons (in a bottle), and never been the most likable of characters in the books. His arrogance can be a little off-putting at times, but his heart has pretty much always been in the right place. With his insistence on going to war with his friends, the tide turned on the futurist billionaire, despite the fact that Cap threw the first punch. Therein lies the problem with expecting that same sentiment in a movie adaptation. Robert Downey, Jr. is by far the most likable and charismatic of all the Avengers cast. His Tony Stark is witty, courageous and has the most selfless act of all the Avengers on his resume with his actions at the end of the first Avengers film. Chris Evans is perfectly fine as Captain America, but if given the choice between the two, unless Iron Man does something far more heinous than he did in the comics, he's probably not going to come off as insufferable as he did within the pages.
