Marvel Phase 4: 10 Mistakes Marvel Studios Has Already Made

1. Bringing Back Gemma Chan For Eternals

Gemma Chan is a tremendous actress, and there's no denying that she was largely wasted in Captain Marvel. Playing the blue-skinned Minn-Erva, she didn't have more than a handful of lines, and was killed off with little fanfare in the final battle. Now, though, just over two years later, she will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sersi in Eternals.

While we're certainly glad that Chan is getting another chance (this time with a leading role), there are plenty of other diverse talents Marvel Studios could have used here instead of returning to someone who has literally just starred in one of their films.

This also sets something of a dangerous precedent for future films; will the same revolving door of actors start popping up in Marvel's movies rather than opportunities being given to different actors? Plus, it's hard to escape the feeling that the main reason Chan is returning is because she signed a multi-picture deal and studio bosses wanted to save money by casting her in a different role!

If there's a story explanation for this, we can probably forgive Marvel Studios, but it's a weird one.
