Marvel Phase 4: 10 Mistakes Marvel Studios Has Already Made
5. Why Don't Fantastic Four And X-Men Movies Have Release Dates?
Given what a complete and utter disaster Dark Phoenix was, we fully understand why Marvel Studios is holding off on reintroducing the X-Men. After all, it's going to take a lot of work to convince moviegoers that it's worth buying a ticket to see these characters again after so many disappointments courtesy of 20th Century Fox.
It's been five years since the last Fantastic Four movie, though, and not announcing release dates for that and the X-Men reboot (which has to be called Uncanny X-Men) feels like a major blunder. The characters barely even got a mention at last year's Comic-Con, and the latter were just dubbed "mutants."
Giving these films release dates - even if they're still three or four years away - would have been a smart way to start building excitement again, and not taking advantage of these newly acquired properties as soon as possible simply doesn't make sense. No one was crying out for an Eternals movie, but a new take on Marvel's First Family?
Now that's something we all would have been counting down the days to seeing in the MCU.
