Marvel Phase 4: 7 New MCU Rumours You Need To Know
5. Doctor Strange's New Characters
Source: Roger Wardell
With Doctor Strange 2 likely to be released in 2021, some bits of information are already coming out on the sequel. We already knew to expect some involvement by Chiwetel Ejiofor's Karl Mordo, who has a blood-thirsty desire to kill off the Sorcerors to restore balance to the universe, and now one rumour has claimed that we're going to see some more new characters too.
According to Roger Wardell (again), the sequel is set to aim for an eighties aesthetic and that both Jericho Drumm and Clea "will make their MCU debuts". Wardell and that Clea will be played by an Asian actress.
Given the white-washing controversy of the first movie, that casting decision would be no bad thing, and nor would the addition of Drumm. In the comics, he's known as Brother Voodoo and is a Sorceror like Strange (whether they'd use that name remains to be seen as it's a little problematic) and since both he and Clea are magic users, it looks like we're in for even more of the sparkly stuff.
Swinton returning is an interesting one, but the fact that she came back for Endgame suggests Tilda Swinton isn't against playing the character again. And if there is something tying the plot to the 1980s, then it would make sense that she'd be there.
