Marvel's Infinity Saga: Every MCU Movie Ranked Worst To Best
8. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
It might be a little vulgar to revel in someone's negative experiences, but praise Jeebus for the failure of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for it led to us getting Spider-Man in the MCU.
After he debuted in Civil War alongside Black Panther - to stunning immediate impact - Tom Holland's perfectly cast webslinger got his own chance to shine in a movie that thankfully avoided giving him the origin treatment. It wasn't necessary and nor was it welcome and mercifully, Marvel paid heed to sense and fan desire.
It all works because of the casting of Holland and the charming decision to channel John Hughes very consciously, leading to a coming-of-age story (again, just like Black Panther, but with different notes here) that is told by a stunning cast. Michael Keaton is particularly brilliant as Vulture, who is another Marvel villain with that extra level of substance and complexity that makes those old accusations of the Marvel Villain Problem look firmly stuck in the past.
The future for Spidey is bright, as long as he sticks around.
