It's obviously great that we got to see Cap in the modern era of the MCU, because he's one of the two most important pillars in it. But it was always a real shame that we didn't get to see more of him alongside The Howling Commandoes beating up Nazis and HYDRA back in the 1940s. Because this - the only MCU war movie - is still a really great watch.

Chris Evans is perfect, Sebastian Stan is also great as the roguish Bucky and Hugo Weaving steals the show as Red Skull (even if he wasn't impressed with the make-up requirements), and beyond them the supporting cast is also really brilliant. Where else could you see Toby Jones, Stanley Tucci, Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, Natalie Dormer, Dominic Cooper, Neal McDonough and Richard Armitage (some of whom have TINY roles)?

The script is very good, as you'd expect from Steve McFeely and Chris Markus, even if it is a little contemplative at times, but in the wider context of the MCU, the change of pace and genre is definitely a worthwhile one.
