15. Captain Marvel (2019)

After way too long, Marvel unveiled their first solo movie for a female character and scored a win at the box office even despite some of the weird attempts to derail the film from people butthurt at the idea of The Feminist Agenda. Just don't watch it, guys, there's millions of people who don't agree with you.

Anyway, the box office success was completely earned too, as it's a very good film and a huge promise of what's to come for the character later in the MCU. In fact, all of the characters in Captain Marvel are great, the performances - particularly Brie Larson, Samuel L Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn - are all wonderful and there's a healthy side of cat appreciation in there to turn even the biggest dog people to the other side (temporarily).

While some of the effects work is a little questionable, the story is great, there's a very clever subversion of expectations in a famous Marvel story and even judged apart from its "political" importance, it's a great watch. Fundamentally, it's right up there with the quality of most of the MCU's Phase One movies.
