Matt Damon: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

Cue the Moby.

Jason Bourne's back in cinemas this week, bringing Matt Damon's super-spy out of hiding after a nine year stint punching fools off the grid (the franchise did briefly rear its head in 2012, but we don't talk about that). It's been massively hyped up as the return of the great action star, which is rather funny given that when The Bourne Identity first came out, the kid who co-wrote Good Will Hunting was the last person you expected to be riding bodies down stairwells.

Then he was a pretty boy, a solid actor in dramas who was balancing being part of Kevin Smith's entourage and a member of the modern Rat Pack. Bourne was very important in his career, then, giving Damon the icon he needed to become a bonafide star. Not that he stops with acting; the Oscar-winning-writer-cum-action-hero's been just as active in recent years in his humanitarian efforts (evidenced by a slighter run of films since Ultimatum).

With David Webb back, what better time to take a look over his whole career and pick out some of the highlights (and some that you just have to hope he got a bloody good payday for)? Here's five awesome Matt Damon performances, and five that really rather sucked.
