Matt Damon: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
5 Awesome Performances...
5. Will Hunting - Good Will Hunting
If you wanting to break big in Hollywood, you can do a lot worse than making a movie where you go up alongside one of the biggest men in the business in an Oscar-winning screenplay you wrote with your buddy.
It’s strange that Good Will Hunting worked so well - it’s a rather typical story - but that it succeeds relies heavily on the two central actors. Williams was Williams and deserves the usual praise, but as Good ol’ Will Damon shows effortless emotional intelligence to match his character’s mathematical IQ. In not being your usual spectrum genius, there's a lot to Mr Hunting, and some of his best moments are the silent bits, where you can see the conflict bubbling away.
He also reprised the role for Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season, which despite clearly being for the money proved to be a thrilling action experience.
