Matthew Vaughn has THE DEBT to pay

Vaughn writes but will not direct a remake of the 2007 Israeli thriller.

Matthew Vaughn has wrote a spec script remake of the Israeli thriller The Debt - a movie released last year which somehow must have caught the eye of the British director. Vaughn has wrote the spec with his writing partner Jane Goldman which Miramax have taken an eye to and are looking to put it in development soon.
The Debt revolves around three Mossad agents who, 20 years after World War II's end, learn that a Nazi war criminal is still alive and set out to pursue him across Europe. Assaf Bernstein directed the 2007 Israeli film, titled HaHov, which like the remake is set in the 1960s and 1990s. The Israeli movie was not released stateside.
Vaughn has chosen not to direct this picture and will instead leave the project for someone else. Vaughn is currently trying to convince Marvel that there is huge money to be made in the Thor character (they should come around to the idea once Iron Man makes them a fortune) but he may have to direct the Marvel property Kick-Ass first as almost a trial film. Trailer for the original film below...
