Maze Runner: The Death Cure Review: 6 Ups & 3 Downs

1. It Brings The Franchise To A Satisfying Climax

This is another area where a lot of franchise-capping movies tend to fall flat, but for the most part, The Death Cure brings the series to a close in emotionally gratifying fashion.

Yes, the door is left open for more movies if Fox wishes it, but the final moments feel well-earned, even if it's all fairly predictable from minute one.

Still, the film manages to mourn the fallen Gladers without ever resorting to excessive, mawkish sentimentality, and the ending for the surviving characters truly feels like a culmination of these three adventures.

It won't completely satisfy everyone - especially the fate of one certain character - but considering how many blockbuster series dive totally off the rails at the tail-end, especially in the YA realm, this was mostly a job well done.
