7. He Who Remains

After everyone’s Mephisto theories came to nothing at the end of WandaVision, those same fans put even more stock in their Kang the Conqueror theories for Loki. Though He Who Remains was technically only a Variant of the super villain set to terrorise the multiverse in the near future, the character was a huge hit with fans.

Jonathan Majors’ performance may not have been quite what fans were expecting, as he wasn’t as menacing as the typical Kang the Conqueror or Immortus characters from the comics.

However, his almost goofy and childlike attitude towards Sylvie and Loki didn’t stop him from being intimidating, and though he may not have been the Variant of Nathanial Richards that will try and conquer the universe, he may have been the strongest.

In order to protect everyone in existence from a multiversal war, he created the TVA and controlled the entire aspect of time. He was so powerful that he simply let Thanos assemble his infinity gauntlet in one timeline, and clearly put a stop to him in another, leaving the Mad Titan and his Thanoscopter to die in the Void.

The character was given a lot of talking to do, and exposition to deliver in the season one finale of Loki, and yet he still commanded every scene he was in. He was simply compelling, and even when just taking a back seat to Loki and Sylvie’s fight, it was hard not to look to see what he was doing.

He may not have stayed in the MCU very long, but he certainly made his impact before he was killed.
