MCU: 10 Best Phase 4 Characters So Far
5. John Walker
Has anyone ever been so hated by an entire fan base after so little screen time? The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showed the new Captain America for a matter of seconds at the end of the first episode, allowing him time for a wave and a wink, and he instantly became one of the most despised characters in the history of the franchise.
Realistically, anyone who took over the Captain America mantle from Steve Rogers, particularly after how Sam Wilson was treated, would have had a hard time making friends in the MCU, but John Walker more than backed up his first impression as an absolutely hateful character.
He was arrogant, intimidating to civilians, and he thought that being Captain America made him better than others. Literally the opposite to what Steve Rogers stood for. Steve would also never have murdered a man in cold blood like John did.
By the end of the series however, with John now taking on the much more fitting US Agent role under the guidance of Val, MCU fans have no idea how to feel about him. He went some way to redeeming himself in episode six, leaving viewers unsure of what kind of person he will be going forward.
Could there be a full scale Jaime Lannister-esque redemption story about to unfold?
