MCU: 10 Big Missed Opportunities

7. Hulk Vs Thanos Round II

In the build up to Infinity War, the Russo brothers teased that Thanos would prove himself the biggest threat the Avengers have ever seen within the first five minutes of the movie. The Mad Titan did this and then some, destroying half the Asgardian population on Thor's ship, murdering Loki, and easily defeating the Hulk without using a single infinity stone.

After this, and for the rest of Infinity War, Bruce's alter ego refused to show himself, leaving Banner to take to the Wakandan battlefield in the Hulkbuster armour instead. Since the trailer showed the Other Guy running side by side with Cap and Black Widow, audiences assumed there would be a round two, but this was simply misdirection.

Surely then, Endgame would be where we get to see Hulk go for revenge on Thanos, right? Nope. Instead, while Smart Hulk has a huge role to play, it doesn't involve the rematch everyone wanted to see. After snapping everyone back to reality, Hulk is hurt and unable to take much part in the climactic fight.

If, however, someone like Nebula would have sacrificed herself with the snap, completing her bad to good arc once and for all, Hulk would have been able to go berserk against the Mad Titan and some of the biggest and baddest in his army. After all, isn't seeing Hulk smash the reason we love the enormous green rage monster so much?
