MCU: 10 Big Missed Opportunities

5. Captain America And The Red Skull

Undoubtedly, one of Captain America's greatest foes throughout history is the Red Skull. First appearing in the comics in 1941 and acting as the main antagonist of Cap's MCU debut, The First Avenger, this villain is one of the most feared across all of the Marvel universe.

While Hugo Weaving was originally slated for multiple MCU movies, the actor only portrayed Red Skull once, before the character was recast for Infinity War seven years later. Thanos, and Hawkeye and Black Widow in Endgame, came face to face with the villain on Vormir, though none of them were aware of who he truly was.

Red Skull's reveal in Infinity War was shocking for the audience to day the least, but imagine what would go through Steve Rogers' head seeing the enemy he thought he killed in 1942. Since Cap went back in time to return all the infinity stones, we know this interaction must have happened, we just didn't get to see it.

There are so many questions surrounding this. How would Cap react to seeing the Red Skull? How would Red Skull react to seeing Cap? And how exactly does one go about returning the soul stone that was part of an everlasting exchange. It would seem that we can only imagine.
